With the Gretsch Custom Shop G6136T Falcon Junior Closet Classic Lake Placid Blue MUSIC STORE Custom Guitars presents an absolutely unique semi-acoustic electric guitar from the hands of Gretsch Senior Master Builder Stephen Stern. Equipped with TV Jones pickups, a particularly compact body and a number of well thought-out details, this unique instrument combines traditional sounds and a dignified playing comfort into a harmonious instrument.
For the body of the Gretsch Custom Shop G6136T Falcon Jr. Stephen Stern uses classic maple laminate and additionally uses the Gretsch Trestle Bracing to connect the back and sides. This consists of two U-shaped maple profiles mounted parallel to the neck, which help suppress unwanted feedback without disturbing the natural resonance of the body. Thanks to its compact shape, the body also combines the best semi-hollow sound characteristics with unimpeded handling. The traditionally glued maple neck has the perfectly balanced "Boat Neck" profile, which changes from a slightly hinted "V" in the lower register to a rounded "C" in the higher register, thus providing incomparable playing comfort. In combination with the compound radius of the ebony fingerboard, which increases from 12" to 16", this Gretsch Custom Shop Falcon Jr. allows both complex chords and virtuoso solos with wide bindings to leave your fingers loose without the sounds dying away.
The Gretsch Custom G6136T Falcon Jr. Closet Classic Lake Placid Blue features two TV Jones Classic humbuckers with their authentic vintage sound. The neck pickup combines the best of single coil and humbucker to a seductive sound with airy warmth that makes both chords and melodies sing with a clear voice. Its counterpart on the bridge, on the other hand, convinces with a wirey presence tone, whose characteristic snap clean played sounds and crunched chords lend enormous assertiveness. The pickups react with silky dynamics to the player and let the resonant timbre of the semi-hollow construction always shine through. In addition, a wide range of different sound nuances can be called up via the classic Gretsch circuit. The pickups are selected via the 3-way toggle and can be precisely adjusted via individual volume controls and the master tone potentiometer, while the master tone control placed in the lower body horn is particularly practical in live situations.
Historical correctness and unrestricted functionality were meticulously taken into account when equipping the hardware. The strings are held on the body by a classic Bigsby B6 vibrato, which allows gently shimmering modulations around the played tone. From there the strings run over the Gretsch Space Control bridge with spinned ebony foot towards the saddle, whose synthetic bone material has self-lubricating properties for unlimited tuning stability before being countered by the precise Grover Imperial tuners. The Closet Classic Nitrocellulose Finish in Lake Placid Blue accentuated by Silver Sparkle Bindings is also an absolute eye-catcher. This was inspired by old but rarely played instruments from the golden era of the electric guitar. Accordingly, the nitro paint has the characteristic ageing cracks, but does not show any artificially produced traces of play.
