With the Marshall 2525 Mini Jubilee electric guitar amplifier, the British Rock'n'Roll pioneer presents a particularly compact version of the legendary Silver Jubilee top, which was originally introduced on the occasion of the company's 25th anniversary in 1987. Accordingly, the Marshall 2525 Mini Jubilee also features a two-channel preamplifier with three ECC83 tubes covering the entire spectrum between crystal-clear clean and distinctive distortion with typical British mid bite. The compact top unit draws 20 watts from two EL34 tubes suitable for rehearsal rooms and stages, which can be reduced to 5 watts suitable for living rooms if required. To adjust the sound, the top features a 3-band tone control, while two individual master volumes provide different volume levels for rhythm and solo. External effects can also be connected to the serial loop-in path. The 2525 Head in classic split vinyl design is strictly limited and only available for a limited time!
I already had the SC20H JCM800 20W head and was (and still am) very impressed, but it is a single channel and I wanted a 20W Marshall with a clean channel plus a little bit more gain if i need it. The 2525 fit the bill for features perfectly.
When I received it I found that it wasn't quite as easy to dial in the sounds I was after as for the SC20H, but that isn't surprising - the SC20H does its job perfectly with all the controls at noon. The 2525 is more versatile so it took a bit of work to get to the settings to replicate the SC20H. Whereas with the SC20H I set the input gain to nearly max and used the Master for the volume, the 2525 worked better with the gain dialled back but the master higher. I was also pleased to find that I can use the clean channel in Rhythm clip mode for this and it's still a beefy Marshall rhythm sound. Switch into the lead channel and it's more gainy. Very similar to the Friedman JJ Junior in my opinion. The lead master works well to set the relative volumes. I was also pleased to find that deselecting rhythm clip didn't have a huge change in volume as expected.
I should also say that Marshall held up delivery for about a month for some reason. I think because I ordered the split tolex version (looks great btw). I spoke with Virdi at dv247 and he found a B-Stock for me instead that worked for me. Thanks Virdi.
The description of the product as well as the transaction, packaging and shipping were all fast and great. I'll be buying more equipments from this store in the future !
