With the Music Man StingRay Special RW Burnt Ends Bass, the traditional Californian company revamps the popular 4-string electric bass with a number of welcome features without denying the virtues that have proven themselves since 1976. Accordingly, the four-string offers a Selected Hardwood body with fitted contours, while the bolt-on neck is crafted from Roasted Maple and sports a rosewood fingerboard with stainless steel frets. A Music Man standard neodymium humbucker and active 18 volt 3-band tone control furthermore deliver a particularly flexible, subtly modernized sound without ignoring the distinctive StingRay character. Last but not least, the StingRay Special bass guitar features a massive Music Man Vintage Top-Load bridge and Music Man Custom Lightweight tuners developed especially for this model.
Traditional construction with new contours
For the construction of the StingRay Special, Music Man uses a body made of selected hardwood. The revised contours lie even more comfortably on the body and thus guarantee optimal handling. The neck is made of Roasted-Maple, which is insensitive to climate changes due to the thermal treatment. Thanks to the fivefold bolting with sculpted neck joint, the rosewood fingerboard can be easily played up to the 22nd stainless steel fret.
Neodymium Pickup and 18 Volt Preamp
The pickup on the StingRay Special RW Burnt Ends is a Music Man Standard Neodymium Humbucker, specially developed for this model. The powerful magnet material promises not only increased output but also supports a broad sound. In addition, the active electronics typical for StingRay basses are available, whose operating frequencies for basses, mids and trebles have been revised and thus always provide musical sound images even at extreme settings. Due to the operating voltage of 18 volts, the Music Man Preamp furthermore has an increased headroom for a particularly clean and detailed reproduction.
Lightweight Music Man Hardware
Last but not least, the StingRay Special RW Burnt Ends from Music Man convinces with an optimized hardware configuration. The headstock is equipped with four Music Man Custom Lightweight bass tuners in the traditional "3+1" arrangement, which counteract head heaviness by using lightweight materials. Together with the compensated saddle, the lightweight tuners also guarantee precise and robust tuning. On the body, on the other hand, a Music Man Vintage Top-Load bridge made of steel is used.
