Telefunken ELA M 251 E overview
Probably the best sounding microphone ever made, the original TELEFUNKEN ELA M 250 / 251 was sold in two versions: First, the "ELA M 250E / 251E" version with a 6072a tube, and the "ELA M 250 / 251"-with a TELFUNKEN AC-701 tube. The microphones without the "E" appendix were built according to the broadcasting standards of the time in Germany and Austria. While both versions of this microphone now have legendary status in the modern recording industry, getting there was not a foregone conclusion.
