The World Percussion Pad
The Roland Octapad SPD-20 PRO BK is the revised version of the SPD-20, which is highly regarded among percussionists. All the familiar sounds are back on board and are complemented by a collection of new sounds. In addition, there is an equalizer, compressor, five different ambient sounds and a layering function that allows up to four sounds to be placed on one of the eight rubber pads, as well as various options for editing the sound, for example, level, Pitch or decay. With over 900 instruments, there is a wide range of world Percussion sounds to choose from, divided into 200 kits (100 User kits & 100 presets). In addition to high-quality samples for Asian, African, Latin American and many other musical styles from around the world, classic drum kits are also available. These include high-quality acoustic sets and cymbal sounds from Roland's TD-27 sound module.
Effects and editing
The SPD-20 PRO offers a wide range of options for adjusting the sounds. In addition to the sensitivity, even the dynamic curve, minimum volume, decay time, compression and Equalizer can be set for each pad. The ambient sound can also be individually adjusted under Ambience. The options range from reverb type to pre-delay and duration of the ambiance effect. Crosstalk and Retrigger Cancel can be used to minimize false triggers and there are even parameters to choose from and assign rimshot or choke functions to additionally connected pads (not included).
Versatile connectivity & expansion options
To do justice to its role as a Percussion pad, the SPD-20 PRO has a wide range of connections available. In addition to the obligatory MIDI IN & OUTs, there are two output sockets for output in either mono or Stereo as well as a headphone connection. Inputs for Mix In and a USB memory connection for saving sounds and settings help to get the SPD-20 PRO up and running quickly on stage. However, the four dual-trigger inputs, with which the Octapad can be expanded as required, offer a particularly high degree of flexibility. It is also possible to connect two-zone cymbal pads or tompads with rim function. Thanks to the separate hi-hat controller connection, it is also possible to control a connected hi-hat pad in the same way as an electronic drum set. Now connect a kickpad to one of the free Dual trigger inputs and the SPD-20 PRO is transformed into a powerful mini drum set. Of course, the device is also compatible with the Roland PDS mounting plate.
HiHat controller and additional pads not included.
