The Sandberg California VM4 Oliver Riedel is a signature bass model made with the specifications of the Rammstein bassist, who has always been a fan of the Braunschweig-based bass manufacturer and, after his Terra Signature, is now reverting to the proven California V design. The 4-string in black hardcore aged finish, specially composed for Olli, relies on an assertive Sandberg Black Label VM pickup equipment, active 2-band electronics and of course the proven Sandberg construction including in-house hardware.
Solid Sandberg Hardware
As one of the few instrument manufacturers, Sandberg can completely dispense with the use of parts from external manufacturers and equip guitars and basses with hardware in its own design. Accordingly, the Oliver Riedel Signature has a solid Sandberg Bass Bridge for the most direct resonance transmission of the string vibration into the body, while solid die-cast mechanisms not only do their job perfectly, but also contribute to the visual flair of the black gravure guitar in their black finish.
Black Label Pick-Ups
With the classic VM pickup equipment, consisting of a split coil in the middle position and a humbucker on the bridge, the California VM4 Oliver Riedel delivers an extremely flexible sound. The M-Style Humbucker delivers powerful pushing sounds with overtone-rich clarity, while the V-Style Split Coil also suppresses background noise due to its construction, but produces clearly defined single coil sounds. Thanks to active 2-band electronics, bass and treble can be either boosted or reduced via the separate controllers for extended flexibility.
