Steinberg updates its Wavelab mastering software to version 10 and significantly improves the user-friendliness in particular. Wavelab Pro is aimed at professional mastering studios, radio and TV stations and offers all functions relevant for professional mastering such as live recording, externaleffects busses and the directintegration of up to three externalprograms (e.g. SpectralLayers Pro). In addition, Wavelab 10 supports live multitrack recording - naturally using the master effect busses and channel inserts directly. The number of channels is theoretically unlimited.
Video producers can rejoice, as Wavelab now also supports video playback, so that their audio material can be edited and processed directly in Audio Montage. Video files can be imported simply by dragging and dropping, and Wavelab adapts deviating sample rates of the audio material to the current montage.
Steinberg has also redesigned the Effect Tool window (now called MontageInspector): The section has been brought into line with the Master section in terms of look and feel, and is now much clearer - the name of the selected clip is displayed in the Inspector and highlighted in Montage - and allows direct access to the effects slots and each individual gain value. In addition, non-destructive inline editing has been implemented.
A more transparent workflow is ensured by the now completedocumentation ofallwork steps in a Re-/Undo History. This means that any editing step of any section can be completely undone oder without affecting the rest of the audio material. Reference tracks can now be included for direct comparison of versions.
