To activate the hardware unlock, the controller must be connected to the computer via USB and switched on while the software is running. The software uses a handshake protocol to check whether the controller is unlocked and automatically activates the Pro features without the need to enter a serial number.
The XDJ-AZ from AlphaTheta is a 4-deck all-in-one DJ system that approximates the layout and functions of a standard club setup with two CDJ-3000s and a DJM-A9. As the successor to the popular XDJ-XZ, the XDJ-AZ has been significantly upgraded, combining professional performance with maximum user-friendliness. This DJ system is well-suited for permanent installations in clubs and studios, as well as for mobile DJs who need to take their gear on the road. With integrated Wi-Fi® and support for various media formats, the XDJ-AZ provides a flexible music experience. The rekordbox CloudDirectPlay compatibility allows DJs to access cloud-based libraries directly, making use of their latest playlists and performance data, including Hot Cues.
The XDJ-AZ features a 10.1-inch capacitive touchscreen, enabling easy navigation and track selection. With 4-deck playback, creative performances and live mashups can be executed with ease. For professional sound quality, an integrated 32-bit D/A converter delivers dynamic sound, ideal for large venues. The system also includes a 3-band master EQ for tailoring the sound to the room’s acoustics. A standout feature of the XDJ-AZ is the ability to monitor wirelessly with ultra-low latency via the SonicLink transmitter, allowing seamless connection with the professional HDJ-F10 wireless DJ headphones. Large performance pads and the intuitive layout, modelled after club-standard equipment, make DJing more versatile and enable creative performances.
The XDJ-AZ has seen several improvements over its predecessor, the XDJ-XZ, including the integration of a 32-bit D/A converter from ESS Technology. This upgrade delivers significantly enhanced sound quality, with clear and dynamic audio, making it ideal for large venues and clubs. The 3-band master EQ allows the output sound to be adjusted to suit the acoustics of the room. Additionally, a dedicated mixer settings button simplifies the process of quickly checking and adjusting the mixer status on the screen, making operation more efficient.
The XDJ-AZ features a 10.1-inch capacitive touchscreen that simplifies control and displays up to 13 tracks simultaneously – a notable improvement over its predecessor. It offers features such as a Playlist Bank for quick access to up to four playlists, Touch Preview for pre-listening to tracks, and Touch Cue for previewing the next section of currently playing songs. Additionally, the status of the performance pads and Beat FX settings are displayed simultaneously, making track selection and performance seamless and efficient.
The jogwheels on the AlphaTheta XDJ-AZ feature on-jog displays and are the same 8-inch size as those on the CDJ-3000. The on-jog displays can show key information such as track details, cover art, active performance pad parameters, or even a custom logo. Additionally, the JOG FEEL adjuster, similar to that on CDJ players, allows DJs to customize the jogwheel resistance, enabling each DJ to set their preferred resistance for optimal performance.
The XDJ-AZ offers 8 dedicated, pressure-sensitive performance pads per deck, enabling a wide range of functions. DJs can use these pads to apply features such as HOT CUE, BEAT LOOP, SLIP LOOP, BEAT JUMP, GATE CUE, BEAT LOOP2, KEY SHIFT, or BEAT JUMP 2 to the track playing on the deck. A new improvement is that the second instance of the performance pads is now easier to access – instead of using the Shift button, a simple double-click on the desired function is sufficient.
The XDJ-AZ enables wireless monitoring with ultra-low latency via the integrated SonicLink transmitter when paired with the HDJ-F10 DJ headphones. A single button press is all it takes to establish the wireless connection, allowing DJs to move freely on stage. Developed by AlphaTheta, SonicLink technology transmits audio 20 times faster than standard Bluetooth® SBC codecs, ensuring lag-free playback when pressing buttons or scratching. However, the XDJ-AZ does not support wireless connection with the portable DJ speaker WAVE-EIGHT.
The XDJ-AZ features integrated Wi-Fi® and supports various media formats, providing DJs with maximum flexibility. With rekordbox CloudDirectPlay, DJs can directly access cloud-based libraries, use playlists and Hot Cue data, and make updates right on the device. The StreamingDirectPlay function also enables the direct playback of tracks and playlists from the extensive Beatport library (requires a separate subscription), including analysis data such as waveforms, BPM, and grids, allowing seamless integration of new music into DJ sets. This system ensures a smooth and innovative DJ experience.
