The mahogany neck, glued with Long Tenon, features the comfortable "SlimTaper '60s C" profile.
Traditional Semi-Hollow Construction
The ES-335, as a representative of the semi-hollow construction, features a classically crafted body, which is made of three-ply laminate of maple and poplar wood. The laminate construction, which has been tried and tested since the ES-175, is complemented by a solid center block made of maple, which favors the resonance transmission of the strings into the body and ensures that the ES-335 can be played at high gain settings without any problems. As a special feature of the '61 model, the long neck heel glued mahogany neck of the 1961 ES-335 features the classic slim "SlimTaper '60s C" neck profile of the era.
Gibson Custombucker and the electrics built with high-quality components provide the amp with authentic vintage sounds with PAF character.
Authentic electrical equipment
The hand-wired circuitry of the Gibson 1961 ES-335 Sixties Cherry Heavy Aged is composed of two hand-wound custom pickups, high-quality components from CTS and Switchcraft, and real oil-paper capacitors to get as close as possible to the sound and electrical layout of the original. The two hand-wound dual pickups are traded as replicas of the coveted PAF-Humbucker and offer a moderate output that can handle anything from expressive cleans to steamy crunch tones.
Artificially aged Kluson Single Line/Double Ring tuners keep the 1961 ES-335 Heavy Aged securely in tune.
Classic Hardware and nitro lacquer with Murphy ageing.
For the right look and feel of a distinctive replica of the '61 ES-335 model in contemporary Sixties cherry, the entire know-how of Murphy Lab, founded by Tom Murphy, comes into play. The ageing experts have thoroughly examined numerous preserved models of the golden Gibson era, and paint texture, hardware ageing and typical playing traces of old originals to be able to implement as detailed as never before. The result is a successful aging process on a heavy Aged level, depicting the condition of an instrument that has been played frequently over decades, with extensive nitro lacquer cracks and strong hardware aging.
