The Gibson J-45 Standard VS is still one of the top models of the traditional U.S. manufacturer from Bozeman Montana. With its timeless look and versatile sound, it covers everything a Western guitar needs. A fully solid construction consisting of a Sitka spruce top and a mahogany body produces a powerful sound with warm bass and defined mid frequencies, making the instrument perfect for singer-songwriters. For accommodating playability in all 20 frets, the manufacturer uses a flat mahogany neck with a slim tapered neck profile and rosewood fingerboard, which harmonizes perfectly with the 43.8 mm wide saddle made of GraphTech TUSQ and a corresponding compensated bridge inlay, so that the instrument intonates cleanly over the entire scale length of 628 mm. High-quality Grover-Rotomatic nickel tuners also make it easy to tune the strings and give the overall appearance a noble touch. Perfectly matched to the round-shoulder construction, the vintage sunburst finish of the top perfectly accentuates the overall appearance of the Gibson J-45 and, in combination with simple multi-ply bindings and a single-ring soundhole rosette, rounds off this appearance in a very aesthetic way. An L.R. Baggs VTC pickup system with its unadulterated sound reproduction also enables a safe performance on stage or in the rehearsal room and can be easily adjusted via a control unit in the sound hole. A sturdy case and a Gibson Accessory Kit are included in delivery.
Gibson J-45 Standard VSI am a electric guitar man, but I was looking for a universal acoustic for accompanying and solo playing, and it seems, I've got what I need.
I have never bought play a new guitar, this is the first and the glue smell still catch me))
The overall craftsmanship on this guitar is good. That said there is a imperfection on my guitar, more specifically the glue being observable to the naked eye, which is pretty disappointing considering the huge price it retails for. Sound is really great, no complaints here. The guitar looks and feels great, with the exception of the glue like I said. If you have the money to spend it's a great guitar, that said the price is preeety steep, so it comes to personal opinion in regards to Price/Performance. I believe you can find great guitars for half the price of this one. Still I've tested it on a lot of different tracks and genres and it is very malleable. It's a great guitar to have and I have definitely enjoy playing it!
So much has been said about this Guitar over the years. This is my first Gibson acoustic and I'm comparing it with my Martin D18 which I've gigged with for about 15 years. I have to say I think this may become my favourite acoustic!
This is a lovely guitar with a professional finish and a fabulous tone that comes from the selection of spruce and mahogany tonewoods. I deliberately selected a Gibson Dove for my six-string acoustic (with maple tonewoods) as I like brighter tones in acoustic guitars but in the case of a 12 string that would be too bright - in the J-45 12 String, the "darker" sounding tonewoods balance off the high trebles of a 12 string leaving just the right amount of jangle.
The guitar was also great value. The J-45 may be regarded as Gibson's "workhorse" but you are definitely getting something special when you buy one.
