The Sennheiser MKH 40 has a large number of applications, for example in remote recording, as a main microphone, especially in lightly reverberant or acoustically less perfect rooms, with instrumental groups or for speech applications.
Its wide-angled, neutral directional characteristics and high level of reverse attenuation ensure an exceptionally balanced sound. Reverse attenuation ensures maximum rejection of off-axis sound, providing exceptional control of ambience. The MKH40 features a low cut roll-off switch, minimizing rumble and noise. The pre-attenuation switch provides an additional 10dB of headroom, preventing distortion and overload caused by transient signals at close proximity.
