UNiKA PRO-IS2

Passive dual isolator

  • CH1 and CH2 INPUT-XLR /TRS Combi connects the outputs of a mixer, preamp, or other line-level source to the PRO-IS2. CH1 and CH2 have separate audio paths and can therefore be used independently.
  • REV - reverses the polarity of CH2. If the input is wired to pin 3 (hot), pressing REV will change the polarity to pin 2 (hot).
  • CH1 and CH2 OUTPUT-XLRs connect the transformer-isolated balanced audio signal to monitor mixers, recording equipment, powered speakers, external effects, and other line-level devices via a standard XLR cable.
  • GND/LIFT- Pressing GRND-1 cuts the ground at the output of the CH1 transformer to prevent hum and noise from ground loops. GRND-2 interrupts the ground at the output of CH2.
  • Rugged steel housing - with scratch resistant paint finish.
  • Anti-slip mat - a full-surface, flexible foam rubber mat cushions and stabilizes the PRO-IS2.

UNiKA PRO-IS2 at a glance

The UNiKA PRO-IS2 is a professional passive isolator that converts two separate line-level signals into two independent, transformer-isolated, balanced outputs. This allows a signal from a submixer, monitor mixer, preamp, or other mains-powered audio source to be connected to mixers, recorders, powered speakers, and outboard effects in a way that isolates hum loops or influxes.

Because the PRO-IS2 is a passive device, no batteries or other power supplies are required, and UNiKA PRO's specially modified audio isolation transformer ensures pristine audio quality.

The heart - the UNiKA Pro EI9AE3R3 1.25:1 Audio Isolation Transformer

This is a modified, custom design with a special copper foil layer and a dedicated grounding layer.The design provides high musicality through a sound rich in overtones. Ground noise and leakage currents caused by potential differences are minimized and low impedance balanced outputs allow long cable runs with the best audio quality. A separate induction transformer powers the active circuitry in the PRO-148 and PRO-248, which is the proven, high-quality OEP PT-4 unit manufactured in the UK. The combination with the isolation transformer extends the flexibility and performance of the PRO-148 and PRO-248 compared to active designs that use only an induction transformer.
