With the Yamaha SG1820 Brown Sunburst, the traditional Japanese instrument maker revives a true classic among solidbody guitars. The guitar series, which was introduced almost fifty years ago in 1974, has been redesigned in collaboration with Yamaha Tokyo, London and Berlin and given a makeover, and the popular design to meet the modern demands of today's guitarists. Accordingly, the Japanese-made Yamaha SG now offers a successful blend of traditional and modern features in the form of the classic mahogany/maple tonewood combination, high-quality Seymour Duncan USA humbuckers and premium hardware from TonePros, Graph Tech and Grover. including Hardshell Case!

Classic tonewoods for body and neck

The body and neck construction of the Yamaha SG1820 follows the decades-old recipe for a solid tonal foundation, relying on a powerfully designed African mahogany body finished with a solid maple top. Thanks to the two famous Cutaways, the SG body ensures easy access to the high fingerboard positions. A 3-strip mahogany neck with a 22-fret rosewood fingerboard serves as a haptic base for the picking hand, which skillfully underlines nimble layer play and endless bendings thanks to a flat 13.75" radius and medium jumbo fretting.

The Yamaha SG1820 marks the reissue of the famous 1974 Yamaha SG with some welcome modernized upgrades.

Seymour Duncan SH-1 '59 Humbucker

For sound transformation Yamaha Japan relies on two Seymour Duncan SH-1 '59 humbuckers in neck and bridge position. The two humbuckers in the style of the coveted PAFs are among the most popular pickups from the portfolio of the U.S. pickup giant and know how to play off their sonic strengths in combination with the resonant SG basic construction. Both pickups have separate controls for Volume and Tone and are controlled via a classic toggle switch with three switch positions either separately or together.

Solid Hardware from TonePros, Graph Tech and Gotoh

The list of the Yamaha SG1820's parts combination reads like a Who's Who of the world's leading parts manufacturers: The double of a TonePros AVR-II Tune-o-Matic bridge and TonePros T1Z tailpiece with innovative locking function provides ideal resonance transmission into the body, while at the headstock the Graph Tech TUSQ nut ensures absolute tuning stability and a high-resolution sound. In addition, six high-quality Grover tun ers are used, which enable fast and uncomplicated string changes with their toplocking functionality.
