The After Later Audio uGrids Trigger Sequencer at a Glance
uGrids by After Later Audio is an algorithm-based trigger sequencer for drums and is a scaled-down version of the Mutable Instruments Grid. The sequences are based on a kind of map that contains patterns commonly found in electronic music. With the parameters Map X & Y you move around on this map to reach other patterns. Chaos deliberately relies on coincidences that occasionally jump to other patterns. With the Fill Rate 1-3 parameters the density of the triggers of each channel is determined. In plain language, this means that all 16 steps are active when the left key is pressed, and all steps are muted when the right key is pressed. Everything in between lets through according to card position matching many triggers along with Accent. The six parameters are equipped with CV inputs which generate endless variable patterns without having to do it yourself. Compared to the well-known TR grid this kind of pattern generation is a completely different approach, but it has a great potential to give chance a chance and to work outside the Four-to-the-Floor beat. Alternatively, a Euclidean mode can be selected, which generates triggers by taking the total number of active steps in a sequence and then distributing them over the entire pattern. uGrids is driven by an internal Clock generator and can optionally be synchronized to an external Clock along with Reset.
