With the XENYX USB Series, Behringer has set the example for how to build modern compact mixers, without compromising features or quality. The British inspired 3-band EQs of each channel and the integrated USB audio interface, that can record onto and playback audio signals from computers, tablets and smartphones, you will always be prepared for what may come your way in the practice room, on stage or for your home studio.
The high-quality Yenyx microphone preamps, which can be found in many Behringer products, impress with an extremely low distortion factor, with a signal-to-noise ratio of 130dB and solid headroom. The four microphones inputs feature an easy to use, yet effective compressor, each with their own dedicated control to balance extreme level differences without producing artifacts. Condenser microphones are supplied with 48V phantom power.
Next to the microphone channels, both of the stereo inputs benefit from the practically conceived EQs, with warm sound of classic British mixing consoles. An analog 2-track connection with RCA in and outputs, are used to record with external devices or as an input for an additional audio source, which can be independently assigned to the main mix or control room/phones outputs.
A fantastic multi-effect section, developed by Klark-Technik, is on-board. The knob dedicated knob is used to select between 30 reverb variation, 15 early reflection and delay effects, 23 modulation effects, 14 multi-FX combinations and 5 special effects. Whether live mixing or studio tracking, there’s the perfect reverb, chorus or multi-effect available. Behringer has also thrown in a little extra, when registering the product it is possible to obtain a free full version of the Traktion DAW software. Behringer XENYX QX1202USBI had 2 requirements. It had to be small, and it had to have some basic FX. This meets these, and does much more.
In this price bracket, and in such a small box, I didn't expect to get 3 band EQ or compression.
It functions well and the sound output is clean. The FX are beyond basic, and the little compressors on the mic channels just work (not sure how that's achieved with just one knob).
All this, and it fits in the pocket of a gig bag.
There is one thing. I need to buy some stick on rubber feet for it. It slides all over the place if you even look at it.
