With the Danubius DCE-ds, the Slovakian manufacturer Dowina completes its affordable Antique series with a traditional dreadnought acoustic guitar, which features a powerful sound and a promising construction. A solid body consisting of a solid spruce top enriches the sound with clear treble frequencies, which unfold completely and rapidly thanks to a wafer-thin open-pore finish. The instrument owes the necessary substance in the bass to a laminated Macassar ebony body, which also shapes the visual appearance with its coarse grain and inclusions in a very aesthetic way. In order to provide the highest possible playing comfort, the manufacturer relies on a slim NATO neck, which is equipped with an ebony fingerboard. The saddle width of 45 mm and a scale length of 650 mm make it easy and clean to grip. A bridge inlay and a saddle made of the finest bone material, which are matched to each other with millimeter precision ensure a clean intonation in all 20 frets. The instrument is decorated with elaborate wood bindings and a striking Herringbone soundhole rosette, which is a further optical highlight in addition to the Intial "D" inlaid on the headstock. The Dowina Danubius DCE-ds is completed with an L.R. Baggs Stage Pro pickup system which includes a 3-band equalizer and a tuner.

I decided to buy this guitar because it is made from the classic wood parts: a solid spruce top, rosewood back and sides, ebony fretboard and bridge. (Rosewood will be very preciouse wood in future.) The guitar from these wood parts, with such quality of workmanship and made in USA would cost 4 times more. Also I looked at the other guitars manufactured by Dowina (Slovakia) on web and also in music shops and I liked design of nearly all of them. I ordered this guitar from Musicstore.com (Germany) even though it is made in my home country (It was cheaper than in our music shops.) Ordering it on Friday afternoon I received it on Tuesday next week – delivery without any problem. Guitar is superb, nice design, great sound, it fulfills all my expectations. The sound is very good also from pickup system.
