The Wolfgang Special MN SB is Timelessly Elegant with Modern Features and a Vintage Feel
Compact basswood body meets maple neck
For the construction of the Wolfgang Special, Eddie van Halen relies on tried and true ingredients for a rock guitar and has a body made of basswood, while the bolt-on neck is made of maple with annual rings. The combination of the compact, sweeping body, the comfortable neck profile and the compound radius of the maple fingerboard, which increases from 12" to 16", gives the EVH Wolfgang a comfortable feel that makes any solo, no matter how tricky, come out of your fingers with ease.
Wolfgang humbucker and special pots
The electrical tone conversion of the Wolfang Special is handled by two EVH Wolfgang humbuckers personally designed by Eddie van Halen. With their hot Output and balanced output across all frequencies, these pickups deliver a fat rock sound that makes every solo sing with endless Sustain, at the same time the precise Attack and perfect string separation provide a tight rhythm sound. The pickup is controlled by a 3-way toggle switch as well as general volume and tone controls that have different rotary resistances. Thus, the particularly smooth volume pot allows violin-like sound fade-ins, while the more sluggish tone pot is immune to unwanted adjustments.
Floyd Rose with EVH D-Tuna
In addition, the EVH Wolfgang Special MN Satin Sonic Boom is equipped with a Floyd Rose tremolo that ensures perfect tuning stability even on the most aggressive dive bombs and squeals. The EVH D-Tuna on the low E-string allows a lightning-fast change of tuning to dop tuning without having to adjust the Vibrato. At the characteristic headstock sit furthermore precise die-cast tuners.
At the head end of the maple fingerboard are EVH die-cast tuners and a locking nut
