Traditional Semi-hollow Construction
The ES-335, as a representative of the semi-hollow construction, features a classically crafted body, which is made of three-ply laminate of maple and poplar wood. The laminate construction, which has been tried and tested since the ES-175, is complemented by a solid centre block made of maple, which favours the resonance transmission of the strings into the body and ensures that the ES-335 can be played at high gain settings without any problems. As a special feature of the '59 model, historically correct dot inlays are used on the 22-fret fingerboard made of East Indian rosewood.
An authentic recreation of the famous Late Fifties ES-335, the Gibson Custom Shop provides the Gibson 1959 ES-335 Vintage Natural Ultra Light Aged with historically accurate appointments and tasteful aging by the Gibson Murphy Lab
Here, the replica of the Semihollow legend is composed of a high-quality premium wood selection, hand-wired electronic components and authentic hardware equipment
Classic hardware and nitro lacquer with Murphy Aging.
For the right look and feel of a distinctive replica of the '59 ES-335 model, the entire know-how of the Murphy Lab, founded by Tom Murphy, comes into play. The ageing experts have thoroughly examined numerous preserved models of the golden Gibson era, and paint texture, hardware ageing and typical playing traces of old originals to be able to implement as detailed as never before. The result is a successful ageing process at Ultra Light Aged level, representing the condition of an instrument that has been enormously well cared for over decades, with minimal nitro lacquer cracks and slight hardwareageing.
The Custombucker pickups, modeled after the original PAF humbuckers, deliver authentic vintage sounds through the Paper-In-Oil capacitors
Authentic electronics equipment
The hand-wiredcircuitry of the Gibson 1959 ES-335 VintageNatural Ultra Light Aged is also composed of two hand-wound custom bucker pickups, high-quality components from CTS and Switchcraft, and real oil-paper capacitors to get as close as possible to the sound and electronics layout of the prototype. The two hand-wound dual coils are billed as replicas of the coveted PAF humbuckers and offer a moderate output that's up for all kinds of fun, from expressive cleans to steamy crunch tones.
