The Gibson 1963 Firebird V Maestro Vibrola Vintage Sunburst #407083 is all about the experimental Gibson designs from the early sixties.
There are two strap pins on the neck foot and on the front frame to offer every player the right handling on the strap.
9-ply neck-thru construction
The classic basic recipe of a traditional Firebird naturally includes the continuous neck construction, which extends from the headstock to the strap pin and consists of a 9-ply Mix made of mahogany and walnut. Glued to this are the shaping mahogany body wings and the 22-fret rosewood fretboard, which, in combination with the Authentic 1963 Medium-C neck profile on the back, skillfully recreates the classic playability of the early sixties Firebird. Thanks to differently placed strap pins on the side and neck heel, the Firebird's Offset-Design offers every type of player an amazing balance when played standing up.
Two Gibson mini humbuckers with Alnico V magnets and separate volume and tone controls from CTS are part of the hand-wired wiring.
Gibson Firebird Mini-Humbucker
As the most important component of the unmistakable Firebird sound, the Gibson 1963 Firebird V Maestro Vibrola Vintage Sunburst uses two faithful Gibson Firebird mini-humbuckers with Alnico V magnets. In contrast to conventional humbuckers, the tighter coil winding ensures a focused sound that gives the instrument its warm and penetrating sound character. The underlying wiring is completely hand-wired and relies on high-quality components in the form of original CTS potentiometers.
Maestro Vibrola with artificial aging
In keeping with the heavy aging treatment of the nitrocellulose lacquer, all the add-on parts of the Gibson 1963 Firebird V have also been subjected to a corresponding aging process by the Gibson Murphy Lab. This applies to the pickup caps as well as the Gibson ABR-1 Tune-o-Matic bridge and the Maestro Vibrola, which is a particular highlight on this instrument. On the inverted headstock, six Deluxe Banjo Tuners hold the tuning absolutely securely and contribute to the unique headstock look of the Firebird.
