The Heritage Audio Tubesessor is an extremely flexible opto-compressor and preferably suitable for processing bass and voice. Inspired by classic tube designs, the Tubesessor has an almost dead straight frequency response, but refines the signal with glittering saturation artifacts depending on the level, giving it more punch, assertiveness, depth and expression. The intensity of the saturation can be increased in 4 steps.
Heritage Audio adopted the innovative Side Chain filter of the Successor for the Tubesessor after numerous very positive feedbacks. In addition to classic low cut modes at 80 and 160Hz, which counteract an over-response of the compressor in the bass range, 3 further filter curves are available: A bandpass at 1 respectively 3kHz in the control loop lets the compressor react only to the filtered frequency range, so that above all the overtone spectrum of eg. drums, snares or e-guitars can be reproduced. Drums, snares or electric guitars are copmimized and the rest of the signals pass the compressor unprocessed. Finally, the last position with high pass at 5 kHz ensures that only the treble band of the material is processed.
