The name Ludwig stands for tradition and first-class sound in the world of drums, which is probably also due to the uncanny success of the Black Beauty Snare Drums. Since the sixties the Black Beauty Snares have enriched the sound of numerous music greats, hardly a hit of the last 50 years that did not rely on the legendary drums from the USA. Conscious of tradition, Ludwig sticks to tried and tested recipes and has therefore made little change to the Black Beauty Snares in the past.

The black beauties are made of a single layer of brass, which is formed into a seamless shell with a bead and then coated with a nickel coating in a special process. The kettle has a snare bed for optimal carpeting and sound development. The Black Beauty Snare Drums are available with Supra-Phonic lift (LB416/LB417) or with Super-Sensitive system (LB418/LB419). Further features like the carefully forged, triple flanged steel hoops and Imperial bucks round off the appearance of the Black Beauty Snare Drums both optically and tonally.
