The Vemuram Jan Ray delivers a natural overdrive sound with silky sustain, clearly inspired by a first-class vintage tube amp. Thanks to the hand-wired circuit in Japan, which not only undergoes tests under real conditions during production, but is also meticulously tuned, the pedal convinces with its unadulterated reproduction of the individual character of every electric guitar. Volume, gain, bass and treble controls are also available for precise sound adjustment, while a trim potentiometer on the front panel allows you to adjust the degree of saturation.
The tone from this wonderfully crafted pedal is nothing short of sensational! I genuinely could not be happier. I have never heard an overdrive that sounds so good. It is punchy, crisp, warm & rich.... heavenly! This is quite frankly $20'000 dollar guitar tone in a £300 brass box.
The tone is phenomenal.
It really is instant & compelling Stevie Ray.
I am running it into a Princeton 68 reissue with an EP Booster & Fulltone 69 germanium fuzz both before the Jan-Ray. Stacking these three pedals together is hands down, the best drive sound I've ever heard! Some consider the Jan-Ray as expensive. I do not. This is the pedal I wish I'd had twenty years ago (I know they have only made a fairly recent appearance in the pedal world)... I would've saved a fortune on buying and selling innumerable amps and gain pedals. Do yourself a favour and get one... You won't regret it... I promise!
