The three-level " Smooth /Open/Crunch" switch determines the basic Gain structure, so that both open-brillant Overdrive and creamy crunch are on the program. The "Bass" knob, located before the Gain stage, has a fundamental influence on the sound character, while the " Gain and "Tone" knobs can be used to adjust the sound as usual.
