Edge Solo is a high quality large diaphragm condenser microphone from Antelope Audio. Combined with Antelope's state-of-the-art modeling technology, users can emulate 18 of the world's most famous vintage microphones with incredible accuracy. Edge Solo was specifically designed as the perfect source to model any classic cardioid microphone. Antelope's Edge microphones are in a class of their own thanks to extensive testing and a design philosophy that ensures a precise yet natural sounding result. Edge Solo was designed and built in Europe and features a 6 micron gold sputter diaphragm, a low resonance body and a low reflection head basket. Edge Solo also features custom electronics developed by Antelope's award-winning engineers that offer exceptional dynamic range and frequency response, resulting in an excellent microphone even before you choose your favorite vintage microphone taste.
Unlike the Edge Series multi-capsule modeling microphones, the Solo has a fixed cardioid polar pattern and powers a single mono XLR input channel on your interface. This makes the operation very easy. Just take it out of the case, plug it in, select one of the 18 emulations available, and start tracking.
The edge emulations are optimized to work with Antelope's precision microphone preamps and converters for maximum accuracy. Antelope Audio's microphone preamplifier-equipped interfaces feature built-in FPGA processing functions that enable vintage microphone emulation in real time.
Edge Solo also includes Antelope's native microphone emulation plug-ins, so you can use any third-party audio interface and even change modeling settings after recording. Antelope's native AFX plug-ins*, available in VST, AU and AAX formats for MacOS and Windows, deliver everything we expect from their industry-leading FPGA-FX, with minimal latency, a high degree of oversampling and precise floating-point calculations.
