The X-TOUCH ONE from Behringer is a flexible DAW controller that is not only suitable for home studios, but also for live setups. It offers everything the heart desires and thus enables an optimal workflow: touch-sensitive, motorized faders and a dynamic LCD Scribble Strip, Rotary Encoder, 34 backlit buttons, 8-segment LED meters, a large jog/shuttle wheel with transport functions and more. To enable integration, the most commonly used protocols in the industry are used - i.e. everything runs smoothly and smoothly in combination with compatible DAWs, so that the focus is on what counts...the music!
Practically there are sticker templates included, which show the shortcuts/functions of various buttons and controls according to the used digital audio workstation. The X-Touch ONE works with Mackie Control, HUI and MIDI comminication protocols, with which all common DAWs can be operated: The buttons and controls are assigned to those of the DAW, but can also be assigned in MC User Mode (except for the upper 5 buttons of the Master/Channel section).
Admittedly...these are not inexplicable movements that arise from the "power" of a fictional universe, but the function is impressive - and above all useful: the built-in, motorized and touch-sensitive 100mm fader reacts to all volume automations of the selected channel and always moves when commands are available - completely automatically and in real time.
The integrated LCD Scribble Strip above the fader provides direct visual information about the track and parameters currently in use. Gone are the days when you have to stick your desk with labeled tapes.
34 backlit buttons, a large knob with LED ring, an 8-segment metering LED, time code display...the X-Touch One shines in almost every respect, so you never lose track of the most important settings. Is a channel muted? Overdid the signal? What about panning? Informative, intuitive and above all effective - X-Touch One
Thanks to its class-comölian USB functionality, the Touch Controller is immediately recognized by both Macs and Windows PCs. A footswitch jack allows ultra simple punch in and out applications and acts as an additional option for external remote controls. The Multi-TT USB Hub is also convenient for expanding the device for e.g. mice, keyboards or other controllers.
Behringer has done it again. If you'd have told me 5 years ago that I would be using Behringer gear as my main "Go To" for this kind of thing, I would have ended up in Hospital with "split sides", but the X-Touch One and indeed the entire X-Touch series has pretty much packed everything you need for hands on control in any DAW into a solid budget friendly (when compared with the competition) series of devices.
Ive tried a few control surfaces in my time on this planet, HUI's, Mackie Control's, Motormix, Faderfox, Faderport etc.. but this little device seems to have finally ticked the boxes for me.
Sturdy, responsive, easy to set up with just the right balance of controls for anyone looking to use this with a combination of your keyboard and mouse.
The Overlays are an excellent touch (my one gripe is I wish they were magnetic as opposed to sticky!)
Some users have mentioned the Jog wheel "rubs slightly" but simply pull it up a few millimetres and its all good.
It may not be the solution for those wanting full mixing contol of multiple channels at once, but I use it in conjunction with a touchscreen as my main controller and for me, it gives a nice "hands on" approach when I want to focus on a particular channel or parameter.
I must also mention this is my first experience as a customer with DV247 / Musicstore and I was pleasantly suprised.
Unbeatable price and fast delivery (faster than some UK based companies), however..! I did not receive a UK power supply, just an adaptor that you can grab for £1.00 from any Poundlandesque establishment.
Prior to purchase I did enquire to make sure an official UK PSU was shipped with the unit, (as I was buying in the UK) and was told it would come with the UK PSU, so this soiled the experience slightly when I ended up with a Frankenstein EU adaptor, but not to the point where I lost any sleep, burst into floods of tears or started listening to "The Smiths".....
Bought this from DV247 from their UK website. They sourced the product from their German operation so only got a 2 pin euro plug PSU. Despite my contacting them they've not replied. Not a major deal just clumsy using mains adaptors.
X touch didn't work properly at first with Logic but just needed a Firmware update, with great instructions on how to on You Tube.
Great bit of kit for the money and very well made.
Thank you for delivery of Behringer X-Touch One.
A fast delivery and good notification of delivery progress.
The X-touch instantly connected and integrated to Cubase and functions perfectly.
Assigning the function buttons was straight-forward with plenty of options for commands.
The X-touch is solidly made and robust, with all it's buttons ergonomically designed for use with one hand.
The digital displays make it easy to see what channel you working on and where you are in the project.
Of all my midi-control peripherals this was the easiest to set-up and is intuitive to use.
My only criticism is that it does not have an independent on-off power switch.
The X Touch One is a great product and I've found works seamlessly with Logic Pro X. Perfect for automating in the final stages of my mixes.
The button functions are also useful.
Order and delivery service was excellent from dv247. Thanks Guys!
