Brian May's trademark is the Red Special guitar, which he built together with his father as a teenager in the early 1960s. Since the wood for the guitar came from an old fireplace cladding, it is also nicknamed "Fireplace".
The Brian May Special in Natural Finish is a replica of this legendary guitar. The body is hollow milled and is made of mahogany. The mahogany neck is glued into the body and carries a fretboard with 24 frets in medium jumbo format. Thanks to the 24" scale length, Brians Special offers not only comfortable dimensions, but also full control over wide bends.
The BMG Special is equipped with three Brian May Custom Tri-Sonic Style single coils, whose special circuitry ensures the flexible sound of the original. The pickups can be individually switched on or off via three slide switches. Three additional sliders allow to switch the pickups in or out of phase.
The Brian May Special uses a high-quality Wilkinson Vibrato with 2-point suspension and brass riders as a bridge, while Grover Locking Rotomatic mechanisms make string changes much easier and increase tuning stability thanks to fewer axle windings.
A great guitar, with original specs spiced with modern elements. I am haven a hard time putting it down:-)
