Compact basswood body meets maple neck
For the construction of the Wolfgang Special QM Baked Maple, EVH relies on proven ingredients for a sophisticated rock guitar and has the body made of basswood with a top made ofcloud maple. The bolt-on neck is made of thermally treated maple and has a 22-fret baked maple finger board. The combination of a compact, boldly designed body, comfortable neck profile and compound radius of the fingerboard, which increases from 12" to 16", gives the EVH Wolfgang Special a comfortable feel that makes every solo, no matter how tricky, easy to play.
The blue "Indigo Burst" finish of the EVH Wolfgang Special QM Baked Maple stands out thanks to the cloud maple top and lets the Floyd Rose tremolo shine in a chrome look.
The precise attack of the EVH humbuckers with articulate string separation ensures a tight rhythm sound on the amplifier.
Wolfgang humbucker and special pots
The tone conversion of the Wolfang Special QM is handled by two EVH Wolfgang humbuckers developed by Eddie van Halen himself. With their hot and balanced output across all frequencies, these pickups deliver a fat rock sound that makes every solo sing with endless sustain. The pickups are controlled via a 3-way toggle switch as well as general volume and tone controls, which have different rotary resistors. The particularly smooth-running volume pot enables violin-like sound fades, while the slower-running tone pot is immune to unwanted adjustments.
The tuners at the head end of the thermally treated maple fingerboard have a chrome look to match the rest of the hardware.
Floyd Rose with EVH D-Tuna
In addition, the EVH Wolfgang Special is equipped with a Floyd Rose tremolo that ensures perfect tuning stability even with the most aggressive dive bombs and squeals. The EVH D-Tuna on the low E-string enables lightning-fast tuning changes to drop tunings without having to adjust the setting of the vibrato. The characteristic headstock features precise Gotoh tuners with the EVH logo and a practical locking saddle, allowing all six strings to remain in tune even during wild tremolo actions.
