Erica Synths Matrix Mixer

Storable routing matrix

The Erica Synths Matrix Mixer:

  • Storable Routing Matrix
  • Analog signal path
  • Modernized concept of the EMS Synthi series
  • 16 inputs
  • 16 outputs
  • 256 nodes
  • 2 inputs with 6.3mm jack normalized to IN 1+2
  • 2 outputs with 6.3mm jack normalized to OUT A + B
  • 254 memory locations
  • Random-Mode
  • Memory selectable via MIDI CC

Erica Synths makes it possible to store common connections within a modular system with the Matrix Mixer. Commemorating the synth series of EMS (primarily 70s), the Matrix Mixer takes the concept of the routing matrix and brings it into the modern age. The module has 16 rows [1-16] which act as inputs and 16 columns [A-P] which act as outputs. Thus there is no limit to the signal flow.

Presets & Free Routing

254 memory locations can be used to store connections consisting of up to 256 links. Via MIDI Control Change these memory locations can be recalled via remote control (e.g. from an MPC). Imagine a configuration in which two different envelopes and LFOs, an oscillator and a random voltage are routed to Cutoff and switched through via MIDI matching. Even simple multiple tasks can be realized with the Matrix Mixer with ease. In addition, it is possible to temporarily overwrite the memory locations, and the next time you call it up, you will have the previous state again.

Almost like "sinking ships"

The central component in this module is a so-called crossbar, this is able to distribute and also multiply signals of all kinds (CV, gate, clock, audio); summing respectively mixing can be implemented in three steps per node. The LED grid serves to illustrate the set connections. If "12 A" is lit, this connection is set.
