The Music Man John Petrucci 6 20th Anniversary Honey Butter marks the 20th anniversary of the successful collaboration between the string magician from Dream Theater and the tradition-rich company from California. As a strictly limited special model, the 6-string electric guitar combines the typical Petrucci appointments in terms of sound and playability with premium woods and an elegant sunburst finish.
For the construction of the 20th Anniversary JP Signature electric guitar, Music Man relies on particularly exquisite woods and the design features developed in collaboration with Petrucci for agile handling. The body and neck are made of Honduran mahogany, which guarantees an exceptionally powerful sound character. Furthermore, a curly maple top with even flame and the dark ebony fingerboard with golden JP inlays provide a dignified look.
While the Forearm Contour at the end of the body provides optimal support for the forearm, the fluidly designed Sculpted Neck Joint guarantees unhindered access to the higher registers. The D-shaped neck profile and flat fretboard radius give the JP 20th Anniversary Guitar particularly agile playing characteristics so that high-speed riffs and solos come out of the hand with precision and ease. Thanks to the stainless steel fretting in the "High Profile, Wide" format, bends can also be used with ease.
When used with a guitar amp, the Music Man JP 20th Anniversary naturally offers a wide range of tones for classic and modern progressive metal. Developed in collaboration with John Petrucci, the DiMarzio Liquifire and Crunch Lab humbuckers in the neck and bridge positions respectively promise first-class clean and overdrive sounds for harmonically sparkling arpeggios, fluid solo lines and tight riffing. For additional timbres with acoustic character, a piezo pickup system is also on board. To add volume to solos, the active Music Man Custom preamp features a switchable gain boost.
When it comes to hardware, the JP 6 20th Anniversary also takes up the solutions developed together with the Dream Theater guitarist. The bridge is a Music Man Custom tremolo with Fishman piezo elements in the tailpieces. Mounted on two pins, the system also impresses with its buttery smooth handling. To ensure that the electric guitar stays in tune even when frequently reaching for the vibrato lever, the headstock is equipped with Schaller M6-IND locking tuners in the typical "4+2" arrangement.
