With a satin finish back and "Wide Thin" neck profile with 20" fingerboard radius, the glued maple neck of the Mark Holcomb SVN offers premium playing characteristics.

To achieve a totally contemporary feel and tight sound, Paul Reed Smith infuses the classic Custom 24 design of the SE Mark Holcomb SVN with a number of smart detail solutions. The extended 26.5" scale length (673 mm) ensures a precise representation of every note played thanks to the increased string tension, while the classic set-neck construction with mahogany body, maple top and maple neck supports the punchy sound character. The grippy "Wide Thin" profile and the flat 20" radius (508 mm) of the ebony fingerboard also create the best conditions for implementing the most modern playing techniques. Last but not least, the chic cloud maple veneer and the typical Bird inlays emphasize the elegant look of the Mark Holcomb SVN guitar.

As pickup on the SE Mark Holcomb SVN guitar naturally Mark Holcomb's Seymour Duncan Alpha and Omega Signature humbuckers are used, whose metier are clearly the crushing sounds of modern metal. In the bridge position, the Seymour Duncan Omega humbucker, equipped with powerful ceramic magnets, provides a tight sound with explosive Attack and optimally dosed treble bite that cuts precisely through the tape mix even at the deepest down-tunings and maximum gain. In neck position, on the other hand, the Seymour Duncan Alpha Humbucker promises more moderate but still assertive tones for fluid soloing and harmonically sparkling cleans. With the coil split option, the seven-string electric guitar also provides transparent single-coil sounds.

Straightforward and reliable hardware

While the seven individually adjustable tailpieces of the PRS PlateStyle bridge guarantee an exact adjustment of intonation and string action even when using low tunings and matching string gauges, the string routing through the body supports the crisp sound of the electric guitar. At the headstock, encapsulated die-cast tuners also guarantee accurate and robust tuning of each string.
Superb looks and sound quality. Everything you’d expect from a PRS at this price point. Only change made us I’ve put heavier gauge strings on for my personal preference.

After I took the Guitar out of the gib bag, I was instantly impressed by the beauty of it. Great finish, not to heavy and feels super smooth. After plugging it in, there was an immediate connection between the fretboard and me. The flat radius, makes it super enjoyable to play. The seymour duncans together with the coil splits yield a wide range of sound. The guitar has great tuning stability. I hardly had to retune, after I restringed the guitar. All in all, I can recommend this guitar to anyone who want a 7 String PRS.
