Fixed filter bank with 14 ideally tuned frequency bands
The FB-14 MkII by SND is a classic among analog effects units. The fixed filter bank in 19"/1U studio format with monophonic signal path is a combination of filter and equalizer with 14 almost perfectly tuned frequency bands with quint spacing. Each band has a control range of +/- 20dB, which allows subtle to drastic sound adjustments. The four transistors in the signal path also contribute to this, two of which are true germanium types, this gives the processed audio signal a tube-like sound character.
Structure and materials
The excellent audio values of the FB-14 MkII are due to the use of only the highest quality components in Class A circuitry. Hand-wound coils, knobs specially manufactured by ALPS and a great deal of manual work make a decisive contribution to this. The sound qualities of the FB-14 MkII are a unique selling point. It gives digital sounds and drums in general more presence and intensity, transforms static sounds like drones or pads into widely detailed soundscapes and generally gives every signal you send through a touch of class and expensive silkiness.
