SPL's Phonitor xe is fully optimized for headphone playback and represents the Phonitor e's big brother, while its appearance resembles that of the Phonitor x flagship. With VOLTAiR technology, headphones with symmetrical and unsymmetrical operation can be driven with up to 3.7W. Thanks to the phonitor matrix - identical in construction to that of the Phonitor x - music can be experienced via headphones as well as via speakers.
The connections are located on the front as well as on the back. Permanently used headphones can therefore be connected at the back so that no cable interferes with the front view. A matching toggle switch for switching between front and rear is also available, which of course also serves for comparison purposes, without having to change anything.
On board is also a crossfeed switch with which the frequency-corrected crosstalk of the channels can be set according to the level, as it would occur in a room during playback via loudspeakers due to the radiation behaviour (interaural level difference). The variation of the crossfeed value can be compared approximately with the influence of different room sizes and characteristics on the same speaker placement.
The Angle switch is used to set the frequency-corrected crosstalk of the channels - i.e. the interaural time difference. The influence of the time at which the sound hits the opposite ear corresponds to the variation of the installation angle in a real speaker pair. The constants of the time-related crosstalk between the right and left channels range from 90 - 635 microseconds. As a starting position, the 30° position should be used.
The volume can be controlled via any infrared remote control. A special feature is that the phonitor xe learns the remote control and not vice versa. Just take the remote control of a CD player, for example, and choose two buttons that you wouldn't use otherwise. The"louder" or"quieter" functions can then be simply assigned. More information can be found in the operating instructions.
