The Drop D EMP Guitar Strings are a set of 6-string electric guitar strings designed for drop D tuning. They have an EMP coating, a hexagonal core and are made of nickel plated steel.
The Drop D EMP Guitar Strings have a gauge of .011 to .056. The EMP coating (Enhanced Molecular Protection) is applied to all 6 strings to ensure a long tonal life without any compromise.
The main features of the Drop D EMP Guitar Strings include:
I've been using these strings for a at least a couple of years now and think they're great. I'm lazy when it comes to changing strings and don't change them nearly as often as I should but these ones seem to last a really long time without going too dull(to be honest, I prefer the tone of a slightly older set anyway, I find new strings to be a little too bright). I've used elixir strings in the past and the coating on them starts to flake and strands appear along the string which isn't the nicest, the Cleartones don't do this, the coating stays intact through their whole life. The only downside that I've found is that getting harmonics to sound out can be a pain, this, however could be my playing and I wouldn't put them down for it. I usually play a Gibson LPJ in E standard and occasionally drop D and find the strings work great for both, I've also used them on my Ibanez that has a 25.5 scale and got them down to C standard without issues so drop/down tuning is certainly no issue with these strings. If you're willing to adjust the nut of your guitar to make these strings fit(the low strings are a good bit fatter than most other 11's) I would definitely recommend them
