To celebrate the sixtieth anniversary of the legendary Gibson Les Paul SG, Gibson Custom Shop presents the Gibson 60th Anniversary 1961 Les Paul SG Standard Sideways Vibrola Cherry Red, a limited Anniversary special edition that revives the classic specifications of the 1961 instrument. including case and certificate of authenticity!
Authentic solidbody guitar design
A modernized successor to the famous Les Paul, the Gibson Les Paul SG features a distinctive double-cut design for improved playability of the high fretboard positions. Like its predecessor, the body is made of solid mahogany and connected to the mahogany neck via the sustain-rich long neck tenon. This evokes the classic slim feel thanks to Authentic '61 Thin neck profile, which was determined in meticulous analysis of well-preserved originals and was implemented in the framework of this special model aptly.
Custombucker with Black Beauty Caps
To do justice to the model not only haptically but also sonically, Gibson equips the Gibson 60th Anniversary 1961 Les Paul SG Standard Sideways Vibrola with two hand-wound Custombucker humbuckers. The Gibson Custom Shop originating double coils are among the most popular PAF reissues and produce a warm Alnico sound with balanced output, which always knows how to convince with character strength and definition both in the clean channel and played with a little more gain. Other features in the electrical compartment include original CTS pots and Black Beauty caps for vocal Treble roll-offs.
Classic Sideways Vibrola
In keeping with the instruments of the early years, the Anniversary Edition of the Gibson 1961 Les Paul SG Standard is equipped with a Sideways Vibrola. The vintage vibrato system with a sideways lever, which is appreciated by connoisseurs and collectors, differs fundamentally from the Maestro Vibrolas or Bigsbys used later and must of course not be missing on an authentic Reissue Edition! Combined with the classic ABR-1 Tune-o-Matic bridge and six Kluson tuners with Double Ring Keystone wings, the result is the classic look and traditional functionality of the Gibson classic.
