The legendary Ted McCarty was responsible for the groundbreaking development of the Gibson model range and set standards. The ABR-1 is the classic bridge that is positioned directly on the ceiling using two wood screws and can be adjusted in height using two knurled screws. The main innovation for the time was that all six strings could now be individually intoned. Nowadays, the ABR-1 Tune-o-matic as vintage hardware belongs to the equipment of the Historic Reissue models and promises real vintage tone.
Whilst there have been many improvements made to the ABR-1 over the years it's still hard to beat the original for ease of maintenance, changing saddles etc.
