The CC series had a yawning gap for a long time. CC#5 was going to be a replica of the treasured "Donna" which has a famous, special "wavy" Flametop.
Gibson Custom, especially Edwin Wilson and Tom Murphy, always takes very close look at the choice of wood which resulted in very little maple qualifying for the top of the famous "Donna".
Tom Wittrock, long time owner of the original '59 Burst with the serial number 9 1923, praised Gibson's meticulousness when he visited Music Store Custom Guitars to take a look at the replica.
Aside from the special selected woods, the CC#5 is customized to the True Historic specs. Especially the complete construction with "hide glue" as well as the "wet sanded" finish gives this guitar a very specific, open response and a very convincing, authentic feel.
Additional details like the authentic pickup rings and the pickguard, historically correct pickup cover and the correct, thinner "Peghead Veneer" complete the great, authentic look.
