The Hofner Violin Bass Ignition 4-String Semi Acoustic Bass Guitar in Sunburst has been designed specifically for those who desire the classic Violin Bass sound on a budget.
The Hofner Violin Bass Ignition features a completely hollow body that consists of Flame Maple back and a Spruce top, a combination that hasn’t changed since its first inception and is one of the main factors in its signature sound. The body is joined by a 30" short-scale Maple neck that is topped with a 22-fret Rosewood fingerboard with white dot inlays.
The body of the Hofner Violin Bass Ignition is fitted with a pair of Hofner Ignition Staple pickups, a variant on the original models that are more than capable of reproducing the signature Violin Bass sound. These are accompanied by a control circuit that consists of dual volume controls, on/off switches for both pickups and a rhythm/solo circuit select switch. This setup allows for the classic Violin Bass tone to be easily dialled in, while also being versatile enough to produce a range of more modern tones.
The Hofner 500/1 Violin Bass guitar also comes equipped with a Rosewood bridge, a Hofner trapeze tailpiece and a set of single Nickel tuners.

Höfner Ignition Beatles Bass VSB Vintage SunburstIt is Hofner Ignition Beatles Bass. The name says everything. So much kharisma in this guitar is, kharisma of Paul McCartney and the great music of The Beatles. It is fun and pleasure to play it. Short scale neck makes playing easier. The sound of it has its own character - it is a warm sound of hollow-body guitar, but it is not limited to the Beatles type of music - in my band we play hard rock covers and I use Fender P-bass for it, but when I got this Hofner bass I tried it for hard rock and for my surprise is easily do it. And last but not the least is price - for the money I paid it is steal - dream guitar for the 1/8 price of german Hofner. When out-of-the-box - some simple setup in my case was needed - like lowing string action, setting up octave, fixing in put jack - but it is not a big deal and normal for such cheap guitar. So my verdict: I vote for it with my both hands and recommend it strongly for everyone, not only for the Beatles funs. Try it and you will not regret.
I bought this bass to find the right sound for the covers of Beatles, and in general, the 60ies. First of all I had to change the strings. I bought the expensive original Hofner flat, and the sound changed immediatley as I needed. Full, heavy, thin accordin to the set of the switches, but a very good sound. Typical of Hofner, the sound is a bass acoustic alike. Very good price, a good value. If you buy it, buy also the case, you need it to preserve this jewel
Ive just picked up my first bass and I love the feel and sound of it.
Had to tighten all the screws because my Ignition arrived with not a single screw put in correctly. Had to re-arrange the bridge to: the G-string touched a screw while playing which is annoying. I also changed the strings. Its a shame to put on mediocre roundwound strings that dont sound good on this type of guitar. Try La Bella Deep sounding bass flatwounds and your Ignition really takes off. In short: workmanship could be a lot more precise but at this price I say...go, go, go!
When i got this guitar I thought it was a fake. I actually could not believe that Hofner would put their name on something so poorly constructed. The is perfect and the guitar sounds great but the finish and everything plastic is really bad and looks likes it was put together by someone who doesnt like their job or care about their companys name. The scratch plate, nut, machine heads and control/volume panel really looks like it was made from the cheapest plastic possible and I had to remove them and stand them down to look better. The tune-o-matic bridge was poorly constructed and could not hold the strings in place so I had cut the seats deeper. Now I know this is a relatively cheap guitar but own much cheaper guitars that is of superior quality compared to this one.
Delivery was prompt and finish of product was very good!
I believe there should be a lead and small litrature enclosed but did not receive this, so a bit disappointed
