The Meinl B16SAH Byzance Sand HiHat 16" in vintage finish is a Benny Greb Signature Hi-Hat with a sandblasted surface and a deep basic character with lots of spread. The dry vintage sound and matt finish result in a soft feel and a wide sound spectrum. Thanks to the size of 16" the B16SAH Sand HiHat has a concise attack with short sustain. The dark sound and the moderate volume are very easy to control and can also be used in many different ways, for example in jazz, fusion, RnB, hip-hop and electro. Like all Meinl Byzance cymbals, the Benny Greb Signature Hi-Hat is made of high-quality B20 bronze and is handmade in Turkey and then sandblasted in the Meinl factory in Germany.
Meinl Byzance Sand Hi-Hat: Vintage Sound for Professionals
The original idea of the Sand Hats dates back to 2010, when the 14" version developed with Benny Greb was presented to the public for the first time. Due to many requests for big hihats, the constantly changing musical trends and the associated sound requirements, Meinl has developed a 2 inch larger version of the Sand Hats with Benny.
"I've been using the prototype of the 16" Sand Hats in the studio for some time now, when a warmer, wider HiHat sound was needed, but I didn't want to do without the sound character of my 14" version. Now I am happy to share this great sound with you!"
