Three switchable stereo settings

Whether MS stereo for flexible post-processing, XY stereo (narrow) for focused recordings or XY stereo (wide) for more spatial sound - the MKH 8018 offers maximum recording freedom. Particularly practical: the stereomatrix can be activated directly in the microphone so that no additional mixers are required.

The Sennheiser MKH 8018 is the perfect microphone for sound professionals looking for the highest sound quality and versatility. With itstransmission range of 40 Hz to 20 kHz, it delivers impressively clear, low-noise recordings - ideal for film, broadcast, nature recordings or music productions.
The switchable XY stereo function is particularly outstanding:

In narrow stereo imaging (sensitivity 50 mV/Pa), the microphone provides a focused, tightly bundled sound - perfect for interviews, dialog and stage recordings with precise localization.

The wide stereo image (32 mV/Pa), on the other hand, creates a natural, open surround sound, ideal for ambient and natural sounds or orchestral recordings.
The M channel (mono) offers maximum directness (56 mV/Pa), while the S channel (stereo) provides wide sound images (25 mV/Pa). The switchable low-cut filter and 10 dB attenuation allow the MKH 8018 to be adapted to any recording situation.
