What is special about the VR1 in terms of treble imaging?
The SE electronics Voodoo VR1 microphone has an extremely balanced frequency response for a ribbon microphone: Due to its mechanical construction, it reaches almost the hearing threshold in the high frequencies and thus delivers the pleasant, silky sound known from ribbon microphones without the typical loss of high frequencies.
What is the best way to use the VR1?
This makes the microphone ideal for all recording situations that were previously reserved for condenser microphones, such as room/ambience miking or on acoustic pianos, guitars and strings, but it also shines in the other typical scenarios, such as as a drum overhead or in front of a guitar amp. Due to its figure-of-eight characteristic, it can therefore also be used together with a condenser microphone in an M/S configuration. Due to its low output level, the sE electronics Voodoo VR1 should be operated together with a high-quality preamplifier.
