CASCADES: Thru-Zero VCO/LFO
The After Later Audio Cascades at a glance
Cascades by After Later Audio is an analog oscillator with extensive sound shaping and complex modulation capabilities. The highlight of this tone generator might certainly be the Thru-Zero FM capability, which is switchable linear or exponential. Unlike normal FM, where an oscillator stops momentarily when a negative voltage pulls the frequency down to 0 Hz, Cascades reverses the polarity of its waveforms until a positive voltage brings it back above 0 Hz. A real plus for this oscillator is its range of waveforms, which not only includes analog standards like square with PWM, sawtooth, triangle and sine, but also features like cosine, sub (square, one octave below the VCO frequency), voltage controllable morphing from triangle to sawtooth to square and AM (similar to a tremolo, optionally with or without rectifier). Details like an eight-step octave switch, hardsync and the switchable LFO mode sensibly round off Cascades' versatile range of applications.
