The Fame First Step Floor Tom 18"x16" Piano Black is a robust floor tom for beginners with high-quality processed drum shells. These deliver clean and balanced sound with plenty of sustain and sufficient bass.
Construction and material
The shells of the floor toms are made of mixed wood. The heads of the Fame First Step drums lie cleanly on the edges and are easy to tune. The hoop, in combination with the eight tuning rods, promises accurate tunability and a clear sound profile. The hardware is partially made of aluminum, which results in a reduced transport weight in addition to the modern look. Three stable floor tom legs are included. Made of robust materials and equipped with solid shell hardware, the Fame First Step Tom easily withstands even continuous use in schools and music schools.
I was semi-sceptical at first buying it, kinda flinching buying it. However, considering this is, by far, the cheapest 18 inch floor tom I could find, I had no other choice. It arrived, and it sounded really bad, and I mean REALLY bad. Luckily I saw this coming and bought a coated emperor with it. I can't recomend this without a drum head bought with it. The second I tuned it correctly, I realised that this drum is incredible for it's price. Is it anything spectacular? No. But what can you do? it's £50. A far cry from the other 18 inch toms, that cost near on £500.
