Historically accurate reissue
The Gibson 1957 Les Paul Goldtop Darkback Light AgedDoubleGold #721275 electric guitar is a successful reissue model of the iconic Goldtop from the GibsonCustom store. As the very first LP model to feature the coveted humbucker configuration and resonant ABR/stopbar combination, the 1957 Les Paul marks the beginning of the most successful LP era and remains as true to the original as ever in this authentic recreation. Here, the ageing process of the Gibson MurphyLab should also be mentioned, which gives the 1957 Les Paul Goldtop Darkback Light Aged both visually and haptically its unmistakable charm.
The Gibson 1957 Les Paul Goldtop Darkback Light Aged Reissue from the Gibson Custom Shop convinces with distinctive and historically accurate design, as well as assertive custombucker sounds.
The Darkback model is characterized by the black finish of the mahogany body, which offers a strong contrast to the golden maple top.
Basic construction with Hide Glue and Long Neck Tenon.
As the basis of this Goldtop Reissue, only original work steps and materials are used. Accordingly, the body is composed of a solid piece of mahogany with two-piece glued maple top. Here the Gibson Custom Shop historically correct Hide Glue, which promises glashard glue joints for additional resonance. Also, the long glued neck heel promotes Sustain and response and is considered an important guarantor for the basic tonal character of the 1957 Les Paul.
The Custombuckers in neck and bridge position deliver the classic warm Les Paul sound with Alnico III magnets.
Hand-wound Custom Bucker humbucker with Alnico III magnets
For sound transformation on the amplifier, Gibson skillfully recreates the sound of the legendary Patent-Applied-For humbuckers of the fifties with the hand-wound Custom Bucker pickups from the Custom store. Like the originals, the dual coils are unwaxed and convincing with their classic Alnico warmth, while high-quality premium components such as Paper-in-Oil capacitors, CTS potentiometers and additional Hardware from Switchcraft ensure first-class signal transmission and the classic response when operating the Volume and Tone controls.
Light Aging reflects authentic playing traces of an instrument that has been played but carefully cared for.
Light Aged Goldtop Finish with Darkback
The Gibson1957 Les Paul Goldtop Darkback Light Aged represents the then-available finish option of the Goldtop with dark body back and recreates the lacquer texture of the nitro lacquer used at the time in an extremely detailed manner. This was done by none other than ageing legend Tom Murphy and his team of experts from the Murphy Lab, who over the years carefully analyzed the composition of the nitro lacquer used on early Les Paul models. The accumulated know-how is now reflected in the Light Aged treatment of this 1957 Les Paul Goldtop.
