With the Ibanez Prestige RG752MPBFX-GFB Ghost Fleet Blue Burst, the Japanese guitar manufacturer presents a 7-string electric guitar that convinces with its versatile sound between rock and metal, outstanding playing comfort and chic appearance. Two DiMarzio PAF 7 humbuckers on the amplifier provide tight, transparent sounds, while two particularly precious woods are used for the fretboard of the screwed neck: burl poplar for the top of the mahogany body and bird's-eye maple for the fretboard.
When designing the Ibanez RG752MPBFX Ghost Fleet Blue Burst, Ibanez pays particular attention to outstanding playability and a differentiated basic sound that also precisely integrates the low B-string. Accordingly, the body is made of mahogany with a poplar top (Poplar Burl), while the screwed neck is made of maple, which is additionally reinforced by two locking strips of particularly hard wenge. The slim "Wizard-7" profile together with the flat bird's-eye maple fingerboard on the electric guitar offers the perfect race track for fast riffs and virtuoso solos.
The Ibanez RG752MPBFX uses two DiMarzio PAF 7 humbuckers with moderate output and ceramic magnets for a wide range of sounds between modern rock and metal. Thus, both pickups convince with a tight sound image that precisely represents every note with well-defined bass, high presence in the mid-range and silky highs, both in the clean channel and in brute distortion. The low B-string with its lively dynamics and balanced tone development is also integrated into the sound. The 5-way blade switch, which can be used to activate the humbuckers or their coils in various combinations, also provides additional sound diversity.
High quality hardware completes the Ibanez RG752: The strings are held on the body by the in-house Gibraltar Standard II-7 bridge, which supports the even sound development of the 7-string electric guitar with string guidance through the body and its solid construction. At the same time, string riders with long adjustment ranges guarantee perfect adjustment of intonation and string position, even when using thick strings and extreme drop-tunings, while the smooth surfaces offer the ball of the thumb a pleasant support on Palm Mutes. From there the strings run over a scale length of 25.5" (648 mm) in the direction of the headstock, where they are guided via the saddle to the Gotoh MG-T locking mechanisms. They convince with high precision and long-lasting tuning stability, while at the same time significantly simplifying string changes.
I bought this guitar after talking to the staff of Music Store. I was searching for a quality instrument and it was my first seven string. After getting all the info I needed i did a leap of faith and bought it without even seeing from close before it came to my house by mail.
Its craftmanship is impecable, not even one blemish. Nothing at all, Ibanez should be proud of their Prestige Line quality control. Sound wise I feared of being a only trick metal pony. I couldnt have been more wrong, the guitar is very versatile and can go from clean straty tones to modern gain. The pickups are great but wont do extreme metal (which is fine by me) but if you have a modern heavy amp or pedals it can go there easily. Its looks are great. Looks for a more expensive instrument if you ask me and it can look differently based from the light angle (from deep blue to light green). It comes with a sturdy Ibanez case and an Ibanez setup multitool.
All in all a great instrument, it can stand next to my other guitars with grace. A perfect guitar for rock/progressive/fusion tones with out beeing a metal-only axe. Its kinda pricey but its totaly worth it.
