The Korg SP-280 in black is a stage piano that almost realistically reproduces the feel and sound of an acoustic grand piano. This is mainly due to the high-quality keyboard, which is incredibly easy to play and picks up every facet that the player puts into it. Together with the integrated metronome function, even piano novices quickly achieve success. In addition, Korg has given the SP-280 an included stand, a pedal and a MIDI connection.
The Korg SP-280 BK features a Natural Weighted Hammer Action keyboard (NH) that provides the same playing feel as an acoustic piano. All nuances of playing technique are accurately realized. Including harder response in the bass and progressively lighter response in the treble. The three-stage Key Touch Control function allows you to define exactly how the playing dynamics affect the signal output and thus tailor the response of the stage piano to your own playing style.
The metal stand included with the stage piano is lightweight, stable, easy to assemble and takes up little space. Since the SP-280 BK can be placed practically anywhere, the possibility of transporting it was also taken into account during development. Thus, the instrument weighs less than 20 kilograms including the stand.
The included sustain pedal works like a "half-damper" pedal. This means that the strength of the sustain pedal effect depends on the strength of the pedal operation. Alternatively, the optionally available PU-2 pedal unit can be connected to use a soft and sostenuto pedal in addition to the sustain pedal.
The Korg SP-280 BK is equipped with a MIDI jack for transferring control data between electronic musical instruments and computers. Since devices connected via MIDI can control each other, this also allows the Stage Piano to be used as a multi-timbral sound module with 16 parts.
