The MOTU 16A AVB is a Thunderbolt and USB audio interface with AVB network function. So it can be connected to the host computer either via Thunderbolt or USB. The MOTU 16A AVB can also be used as a digital mixer in standalone mode, which is a very practical and versatile feature in addition to the normal application area of an audio interface.
The MOTU 16A can also be connected to other AVB audio interfaces through the AVB Ethernet port, as mentioned earlier. This can be done either by a direct Ethernet cable connection from interface to interface or via the single available MOTU AVB Switch, which can also be used to connect more than two MOTU audio interfaces simultaneously. This way, any number of inputs and outputs can be added to an existing AVB network without much effort. The standalone mixer function of the MOTU 16A AVB rounds off the very flexible application profile of the audio interface, as it thus no longer needs to be controlled three-directionally, but can be controlled remotely via a web app on iPhone, iPad, smartphone, tablet or laptop. In this way, certain parameters can be modified. This feature makes the MOTU 16A AVB very interesting for mobile applications, such as stage or general live applications. However, it is also excellent for studios, because it can be very well extended by the AVB network. Furthermore, it is also in home studios in good hands, since it can be created with the high-quality converters and very good 24-bit/192kHz resolution excellent audio recordings.
The MOTU 16A AVB comes to a total number of 32 input and output channels. There are 16 analog line inputs and outputs and 16 I/Os via the optical ADAT connector on the rear panel. The overview of all I/Os is provided by the LCD display, which shows the levels of all analog I/Os and one ADAT bank. The MOTU 16A AVB is used in large studios or for extensive audio recording sessions and convinces there with brilliant sound quality and reliable functionality. All inputs and outputs are accessible from the rear.
