With the Mesa Boogie Triple Crown TC-50 Head Custom Charcoal, the Californian Petaluma amp company presents a particularly elegant version of the popular full-tube top part, whose transparent black curly maple front attracts attention. The three-channel powerhouse presents itself as a true all-rounder and invites with its flexible power amplifier including BIAS switch to expand with different power amplifier tube setups. The three channels of the Triple Crown TC-50 define the classic métier of the electric guitar and convince with full and crackling cleans up to the ultra-tight rock crunch and high gain sound in the usual Mesa manner.
If the factory installed EL34s don't sound fat enough, you can easily replace them with 6L6 tubes for American voicings with the next tube change and adjust them to the tube bias by means of a toggle switch. The EL34 setting also allows the use of slightly warmer sounding and faster breaking 6V6 tubes.
Of course, the famous Mesa full tube reverb effect is also used in Triple Crown for all 3 channels and can either be activated permanently, switched via footswitch or controlled via MIDI programs. The well-known XLR connector for Mesas CabClone D.I. Loadbox with speaker simulation is also available with the TC-50. When using the CabClone, the connected speaker can be deactivated for silent recording via SPEAKER ON/OFF.
For modern studio and stage environments, the Triple Crown is of course optimally equipped and, thanks to the MIDI interface, allows precise programming and switching of a wide variety of sounds. For this purpose, 256 preset slots are available for editing channel selection, setting, reverb effect or effect loop, which are simply stored using the STORE switch at the rear. Last but not least, a switchable serial effect loop makes it possible to use effects between preamplifier and output stage.
