The Mutec MC-7 is designed to convert and distribute Word Clock, AES3/11 and S/P-DIF signals. The incoming reference signal passes through the latest PLL circuits and is always available at the outputs in the same, jitter-free quality, regardless of the quality of the input signal. The sound quality of connected devices is usually audibly improved as a result.
In addition, the MC-7 works as a multiplier for incoming clock rates. The outputs can be individually set to the factors x1, x2, x4, x256, which allows output clock rates in a range from 32.0kHz up to 768.0kHz. This allows, for example, an incoming 48.0kHz signal to be output simultaneously at 96.0kHz, 192.0kHz and as a so-called Digidesign Super Clock. An additional 'loop-through' function loops incoming digital audio signals as clock reference to the digital audio outputs for further use by the device.
