The LFO Phase Expander is an expansion module for the New Systems Instruments Quad LFO. The Expander connects to one of the rear ports of the Quad LFO and generates three additional sine waveforms shifted in the Phase, resulting in a quadrature LFO. Each output is shifted by 90°, but the control range is wide enough to allow overlap and create similar but not identical waveforms. Based on the LFO of the main module, the outputs are adjustable in the ranges 0-180°, 90-270° and 180-360°. The Quad LFO provides connections for up to four LFO Phase expanders, which equates to four quadrature LFOs with a total of 16 modulation sources. A quadrature LFO is a good choice if four modulation destinations are to be addressed cyclically or more complex quadrophonic patches with four VCAs and four speakers in the rotating stereo field are to be realized.
