Introducing Roland AIRA Compact P-6 Creative Sampler
With the P-6, Roland expands the AIRA Compact series with a fully equipped sampler in pocket format. The practical device focuses on spontaneity and intuitive sample handling. The P-6 can sample via the audio input, the built-in microphone and via the USB port and also accepts WAV samples from your own archive in conjunction with the sample editor. Up to 48 samples can be stored in the P-6's memory. These are divided into eight banks of six samples each, which can be played using the large pads. The sample time per sample varies between 5.9 and 23.7 seconds, depending on the selected audio quality. A special feature is the granular mode, which breaks samples down into microscopically small components and allows control over the compression or spread of the components, position and pitch. The results vary from clean and marginally perceptible to total fragmentation. The polyphony of the P-6 is specified as 16 voices, which is reduced to 4 voices in granular mode. The P-6 also masters "classic features" such as reverse playback, chopping, chromatic playback, looping, setting the start and end points and resampling. Thanks to the 20 multi-effects, the samples can be further refined and transformed. The delay and reverb effects are designed as send effects. Typical for Roland, the P-2 is also equipped with the easy-to-use TR running light sequencer. This offers access to 64 patterns, each of which can be up to 64 steps (4 bars) long. Of course, shuffle is also programmable, so that more funk and liveliness can be added to the grooves and knob progressions can be recorded.
Battery operation & connections
The internal lithium-ion battery allows an operating time of approx. 3 hours and is charged via USB. The P-2 can also be connected to the DAW via USB and can even be used there as an audio interface and eg. jam sessions directly into the arrangement. The P-2 can be synchronized to other devices in the AIRA Compact series using the sync inputs and outputs. The synthesizer can be connected to other equipment via MIDI using a separately available MIDI-TRS adapter. The Mix input is an audio input and can be sampled directly in the device; Mix Out is a combined line and headphone output.
Editor Software
To make it even easier to prepare the P-6 for the next session, Roland offers the Cloud offers the freeP-6 SampleTool for Windows and macOS. The graphical editor allows you to cut and edit samples, assign them to banks and pads and make other settings.

Features:
Manufacturer:
Roland
Construction / Number of Keys:
Desktop without keyboard
A surprisingly good feature set for the price (and a particularly good price at MusicStore!) The only negative points are the obscure feedback on the 4 char display, and of course that you really need to read the manual (many times) to get the best out of it.
